The new MOTHERJANE?

team-music-2After three years at a state of exile, once titled “Asia’s best rock band” Motherjane came out with a brand new single, the “Clay Play” earlier this year. With the new single also came a new line up and a new style which is totally different from the “real” Motherjane!

The current line up consists of John Thomas on drums, Clyde Rozario  on bass, Vivek Thomas, Vocals and Nithin Vijayanath on Guitars, where only John and Clyde is the initial Motherjane!

Motherjane known among fans for their soulful lyrics, ‘longer and stronger’ solos and carnatic rock roots, let the fans a bit down with the current lineup and new style!

The new style is not that bad as some early fans are complaining, it sounds more futuristic and blends the carnatic parts in a bit less but adequate quantity! Also to be mentioned is the involvement of ex Motherjane member Rex Vijayan with “Clay Play”, stepping in with his production and sound design skills.

Surely many fans are missing those pull-offs by ex guitarist Baiju Dharmajan’s carnatic music influenced guitar work which used to be supported by vocals of Suraj Mani. Both of them later quit the band and moved on.

The band was bored with the old style they used to play and with “Clay Play” the band  has came up with a new style and had put maximum effort in satisfying the fans and doing what they love – playing music! To those who still complain about the change of style, progress is human nature right?
